BCCF launch Summer 2023 campaign to support asylum seekers in Bristol
The Bristol Churches City Fund launches a new campaign to set up and fund a Welcome Hub in the city centre to welcome and support asylum-seeking families stuck in hotels.
Bristol is home to many asylum seekers who have had to leave everything behind and flee their country to escape violence, war and persecution.
The Christian community in the city has a long history of supporting asylum seekers but growing numbers and increasingly inappropriate accommodation means that the need to support people is at a real pinch point.
Many individuals and families who have come to Bristol are currently living in hotels, where lack of communal spaces and aeroplane-style packaged food threatens the well-being of individuals, families and especially children as people wait to make their asylum claim.
Just before Easter 2023, Bristol City Council have specifically asked the church across Bristol to support this vulnerable group. They have asked churches to set up and fund a Welcome Hub in the city centre to welcome and support asylum-seeking families stuck in hotels.
Bristol Churches City Fund is responding to this ‘ask’. We want to raise £20,000 to fund the running of this new city centre Welcome Hub for its first year.
We hope and pray this will be an opportunity to show that everyone is welcome in Bristol - a City of Sanctuary and a City of Hope.
Your donations support projects and initiatives across the city, allowing them to respond to critical needs in Bristol, delivering impact in significant and strategic ways.
