Come and discover more about Bristol’s Going for Gold aspirations and how you and your organisation can get involved.

Going for Gold is a Bristol-wide bid to be recognised as a Gold Sustainable Food City. Sustainable Food Cities is a national programme that celebrates and supports communities that are making positive changes to their food system. As one of only four cities to achieve Silver status, Bristol has already shown that it has the motivation to make Good Food part of the city’s identity. Now, individuals, organisations and policy makers are joining together to make big and lasting improvements across six key Food Action Areas.

This event will introduce to you Going for Gold and why it is important for the city. The focus will be on three of the themes – Catering and Procurement, Food Waste and Food Equality – and how your organisation can get involved to help achieve the ambition for the city. Whilst the Food Equality theme encompasses food poverty, supporting food communities, etc, there will be a focus on Fairtrade.

Meyling Antonia Gonzalez, a FAIRTRADE coffee producer from SOPPEXCA co-operative in Nicaragua will be discussing what Fairtrade means to their community, and also how coffee production is being affected by climate change and what that means in reality. Could your daily cup of coffee be in serious jeopardy?

ResourceFutures will presenting their view on Food Waste, what is being done and what the scope to do more is.

Chrissie Storry of Bristol Food Network will provide more detail on the Catering and Procurement theme of Going for Gold and the aspirations to improve the food offering in the City.

This event will be informative and enable you to leave with a clear idea of what Going for Gold aims to achieve and how you and your organisation can be part of the success!
